The Open Stage nights begin at 8.00pm. PA is provided and the venue is seated.
Our Open Stage nights are open to all performers, whether local or from further afield.
Each Open Stage has 11 x 10 min slots, and 1 x 30 min slot for a pre-booked 'headline' act.
Some acts who have headlined at our Open Stages, such as The Willows, have gone on to achieve national recognition.
We host at least one Open Stage night each month. We ask performers to pay a £1 entry fee.
Performers and audience frequently comment on the sheer variety of acts and the high standard of performance at the Club's Open Stage nights; as well as appreciating the listening atmosphere, artists value the opportunity to network that these nights offer. A typical Open Stage has 11 floor spots, each with a turn-around time of no more than 10 minutes. In addition to the floor spots, there is one longer 25-minute slot for a pre-booked guest act, which we advertise in our programme. This slot happens after the interval.
Pre-booked acts are usually chosen from our floor spot performers, but we have been known to squeeze in some passing Australians and Americans! Pre-booked acts may also be asked to provide support for a national act on a guest night.
Guidelines for Performers
If you have a journey of 10 miles or more to get to the Club, you can pre-book a floor spot by contacting us by phone on 01638 603986, by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contacting us via our Facebook page. We would appreciate receiving e-mail requests by close of play on the day before the Open Stage.
If you book a slot and then can't make it, please let us know that too.
If you are a local artist, we recommend that you arrive between 6.30pm and 7.00pm at the latest to sign up for a slot, as these are limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis; the comperes put together the running order for the evening at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start.
