Anna Kent lived in Cambridge for a few years before recently relocating up north, to her beloved Yorkshire. She tends to perform songs she wishes she'd written, although the past year has disproven her theory that her creativity to write songs flows only twice a decade. At Cambridge Folk Club, Anna will perform some of her latest songs – in homage to places and people close to her heart – and introduce you to a few of her favourite tunes by other singer songwriters. Expect lilting melodies accompanied on a rusty electric guitar (or maybe it's just the playing that's rusty!)

Martin Baxter: Well-known on the Cambridge folk scene, Martin is a laid-back performer of traditional and contemporary songs, sparingly accompanying himself on guitar, banjo or fiddle. Although his musical influences include Sarah Grey and Martin Carthy, Martin’s mid-Atlantic DNA may be the root of what has made him especially interested in exploring musical styles and traditions from different times and places. Often creatively adapting them, or else just feeding them as inspritation into his own original compositions. Martin brings a theatrical sensibility to his musical performances, sometimes demonstrating unexpected subtleties of wit, emotion and commentary.
Rhys Wilson is a singer/songwriter who has been writing, performing and recording songs since the mid-1970s, when he started performing in the Folk Clubs around Oxford. He cut his first album, containing 7 original songs, when he was still only 17. By the end of the 90s, he was established on the local Cambridge music scene, playing keyboards for his own and other bands. From 2018-20, he was a member of the trio Taylor, Wilson and O’Neil, and in 2020 he joined the well-respected acoustic quartet, Thursday's Band.
He has always enjoyed singing and playing solo for friends. He has produced and written albums for Dave Parry and Steve Logan, and has collaborated with John Meed on four albums, Pavilion Parade (2012), The Dust of Time (2013), Hills of Aaron (2015) and Never Enough (2018). He has a number of solo albums to his credit, the latest of which, Shipwrecks & Lovers, was released in October 2024.
