20180112: Friday 12th January: Showcase: The Tin Heart Troubadours; Honey and the Bear; David Savage

The Tin Heart Troubadours: Nigel Orme (acoustic guitar/harmonica/vocals), Steve Clark (dobro/vocals) and Clare Pastorius(cello/vocals) comprise English Americana trio The Tin Heart Troubadours. Their sound is the sound of American parlour folk music, and their songs tell tall tales of low-life, long odds, high hopes and big deals... short stories of hot nights and cold lead in Heaven and Hell. Their new album, Collected Short Stories, is out now.
'Collected Short Stories is an excellent debut album from experienced musicians combining their skills in a new way. I’m hoping that we’ll hear a lot more of them in the future'. Dai Jeffries, folding.com

Honey and the Bear: Folk and roots inspired duo, Jon Hart (guitar, bass, mandolin) and Lucy Sampson (guitar, ukulele, bass banjo and percussion), combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with powerful guitar riffs, foot stomping rhythms and catchy melodies. With EPs to their credit, they are currently working on their debut album, and have recently been collaborating on a new set of original songs that echo new shoots on old roots.
'Their lyrics are significant without being contrived, and were enhanced by their story letting and communication with the audience in between numbers'. Ellie-Jane Arden, The John Peel Centre.

David Savage: PLEASURES AND PERILS ........ whilst you have pledged to endure a dry January for the good of your health, David will present a set of songs celebrating the delights and consequences of inebriation - as seen through the bottom of the glass by the singer in a rural pub!
David sings and plays mainly traditional English songs and tunes, which he feels are 'his' to enjoy and to pass on. He believes that in a song, the story is always the main event, so he keeps his accompaniments simple and basic.
'Always a crowd pleaser, David has everybody singing along to his wonderful songs', Robin Mansfield, Cambridge Folk Club.
