The John Meed Trio is Lucinda Fudge (viola and vocals), Matt Kelly (violin, viola, mandolin and vocals) and John Meed (vocals, guitar and piano). John is a Cambridge-based singer-songwriter whose songs have been compared to those of Al Stewart, Leonard Cohen Jacques Brel and Richard Thompson. Lucinda and Matt – who are both equally at home in orchestras and in other local folk bands – bring these songs to life as their strings ‘mesh beautifully to add an irresistible sparkle’. They will be playing new songs as well as material from their album A sudden rain which according to one reviewer offers ‘songwriting of great perception and insight’ while ‘Lucinda and Matt’s strings soar heavenwards’.

Established in 2014, Thursday’s Band  are a spellbinding four piece that combines free-flowing strings, guitars, and vocal harmony. Sometimes their songs are personal; sometimes they tell tall tales; sometimes they break out into wistful laments and exuberant tunes - but they all come from the heart. It’s a heady mixture, seasoned with folk, country, cajun, classical, even a dash of flamenco - and that special magic that only happens when experienced musicians lock together as a band.

‘Magnificent music. One of the strongest we have seen...’ (Bishops Stortford Acoustic Club, South Mill Arts Centre)
